Announcing the Restart Innovation for a Stronger Economy (RISE) Grant

The Core Learning Exchange Restart Innovation for a Stronger Economy (RISE) Grant exists to expand next-generation career exploration and training programs which research suggests spur greater numbers of students to pursue more challenging academic courses, and to stick with them until graduation. The RISE Program is about supporting young people-- as early as middle school-- in paths to good jobs and careers with the dual benefit of stronger engagement and persistence and success in school.

RISE is a real opportunity to engage or re-engage young people in their education in a meaningful way and to support their earning postsecondary credentials.

Core Learning Exchange (Core-LX) is pleased to announce the RISE Grant.

Purpose

The RISE Grant is designed to incentivize schools and districts to offer high-quality career and technical education courses and programming that will help mitigate shortages in key industries and occupations in the future workforce. The grant supports the election of over 140 courses, many which lead to top industry-recognized certifications today. RISE helps train students for skilled careers that pay a living wage and don’t require a college degree.

About the Grant:

This grant allows an awardee site unlimited access to Core-LX’s extensive catalog of nearly 140 courses. This enables schools and districts the ability to provide equitable access to courses and the broadest spectrum of career pathways available. The courses are designed to be blended and can be delivered in a hybrid modality with an in-person or a remote instructor. Core-LX will match a free license for each purchased license. Training will be performed for $499 per teacher using the program.

Applicant Period

  • Grant applications will be accepted from February 15 through April 1, 2022 @ 2 pm MST. The application is available on this site

  • All applicants will be notified of their status on or before April 15, 2022.

Note the application is very brief, focused, and may be completed in fifteen minutes time by anyone managing CTE programs, a school administrator, or administration-authorized staff.

Grant Award

  • Access to the entire Core-LX Catalog

  • Core-LX will match 50 free licenses when 50 or more are purchased @ $119 per student license

  • Only 25 schools will be chosen to receive the Grant

Eligibility

  • School size of 500 or more students

  • Must complete application by April 1, 2022 @ 2 pm MST. Click here to apply.

Requirements

  • The school must purchase a minimum of (50) $119 licenses

  • The school must purchase a minimum of (3) $499 teacher training packages. Training is performed via Zoom.

Example

Van Fleet High School (VFHS) is awarded a matching grant. The school needs licenses for 100 students in a multitude of career pathways and to support soft skills development. VFHS would purchase just 50 licenses at $119 each for $5,950, and receive 50 licenses free of cost, a value of $5,950 covered by the matching grant award. The total cost for the school would be the cost of just half of the needed licenses and the teacher training ($1,497 for three teachers), a total investment of $7,447.

VFHS Investment = $7,447

Grant Award = $5,950

Number of Awards

Core-LX will award grants to 25 schools.

Selection

Core-LX will select 25 schools demonstrating a need to help expose and prepare students for high-wage, high-skills, in-demand careers, for whom providing career education options to students is a passion and priority.
