Use federal funds to provide summer options for learning loss recovery

Summer School, after-school, 21st century schools-- all are being funded with federal covid relief dollars. As your budget is being written, target funding to drive aid where student need is greatest.

Brooking Institute notes that instructional time lost to covid means gaps have widened between students. Recent estimates report students that attend majority-Black schools are a full 12 months behind their peers in majority-white schools, highlighting persistent disparities in access to high quality learning, supports, and enrichment. Additional research notes that children from families with low income experience the greatest gains from summer learning and similar programs.

Summer programs, camps, after-school clubs and career exploration labs are essential to ensuring an equitable recovery. Such programs can help students re-connect with peers and caring adults, re-engage in learning, and accelerate their social, emotional and academic recovery.

Information Technology Summer Programs

Cybersecurity Attack and Defend or Ethical Hacking & Systems Defense

STEM Summer Camp
